The Government published a new incentive from the HM Revenue & Customs to help restaurants that are registered recover from the pandemic. You must have heard of it by now…
Eat Out to Help Out Scheme
The Treasury said that diners used the ‘Eat Out to Help Out Scheme’ more than 10.5 million times in its first week! It puts the average claim at close to £5, making the cost of the policy around £50m to date.
It’s a yummy offer running from the 3rd – 31st August 2020. On a Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday a customer will receive a 50% discount on food or non-alcoholic drinks. As many times as you like in a week but there is a maximum of £10 discount per person.
Other important facts are:
- You do not need a voucher to use the scheme
- You can use the offer at the same time that you use other offers and discounts in the restaurants
- You cannot claim a discount on alcoholic drinks or service charges
- The establishments claim reimbursements from the government for the discount that they have given you
